You know what really grinds my gears: Bubble Necklaces

These necklaces seriously infuriate me. They weren't even ok when they were first introduced on J.Crew before they became "trendy" and replicas started popping out of everyone's asses like pieces of shit. Ugly, pastel, plastic pieces of shit. You think you're all cute because you added a pop of color to your outfit, but really you look like a fool drowning in a sea of hideous dangling circles. It's just a bunch of plastic balls hooked onto a gold chain in the ugliest arrangement I've ever seen. Maybe I should just make a necklace out of pieces of shit that's been spray painted turquoise and attach it to a gold chain because then it would look exactly like this one.

This was the original description of the necklace on J.Crew's website:

"We brought it back: the defining J.Crew statement necklace (it's an icon) in 18k gold electroplated brass with hand-set resin cabochons and beads"

I don't care that it's 18k gold ELECTROPLATED brass, or that it has HAND-SET resin CABOCHONS and beads. I don't care about how many fancy words you try and use to describe this necklace of yours. It's hideous. The fact that you even considered it to be "an icon" makes me want to want to strangle you with your own bubble necklace and shove those hand-set resin cabochons and beads down your throat until you choke and die on your so called "statement necklace". Oh it makes a statement alright. A statement that says "I think colorful plastic balls sprawled over my boobs make me look so chic! OMG I'm such a fashionista because it looks like I bought this from J.Crew for $150 when really this is just a knock off version from Etsy." I hope you asphyxiate on those beads in your sleep.

It would make me so happy if I got strangled today!

Now This is Some Pop Art I Can Get Behind

Love movies and art? Check these fantastic portraits by artist Mike Mitchell! They'll be on exhibit at the Mondo Gallery in Austin, TX starting April 26, for anyone in the Austin area.

I love that juxtaposition of cartoony line work with realistic painting. They'd look fabulous lined up in my hallway.

Make way for the creepers.

Flirting via interactive digital screen from your airplane seat?
More like another way to get hit on by creepy strangers. No thank you.

It's a Hard Knock Life For Producers

Have you heard about the latest drama in the EDM world? Will.I.Am (of Black Eyed Peas fame) blatantly stole, and later admitted to it, a song by Mat Zo and Arty for his new album. It's kind of sad that this happens often, like nobody respects DJs rights to their work. It's not unlike how photographers and graphic designers get shit on and ripped off for their work too.

At any rate...
Let's take the attention off of the negative energy, and focus on the positive. Mat Zo is an amazing and very much underrated artist. He deserves recognition for songs OTHER than the one the radio is about to brutalize. And I really loved Rebound. =

Here is a Mat Zo song that gives me life. It is perfect, ephemeral, angelic and stunning (hereby: PEAS). He deserves all the money and love this song earns him.

So many good feels.

So next time you hear Will.I.Am's "Let's Go", remember Mat Zo. Remember The Sky.

Also, kind of relevant...this makes me laugh a lot.

The Fire We Make (At the Bar)

This share is a little unorthodox but there is a funny story behind this video. LITTLE DOES THE WORLD KNOW, Dinosaur and I are sitting behind one of those doors (in the beginning check-in scene) casually enjoying cocktails while this was being filmed.

Sometimes you just go into a bar and they're filming an Alicia Keys x Maxwell video, right? Yeah I know, totally random.

Oh but the drinks were really good. If you're in New Orleans check out The Columns, especially at happy hour. Fantastic atmosphere, great drinks, LOTS of seating (a high priority in my book because ain't nobody got time to be standing around all night).

The Grasshopper is Kind of Amazing

This is kind of a big deal. I absolutely LOVE SpaceX for everything it's doing that NASA can't. This is how we reach the ~future~. I'm ready for my jetpack and personal spaceship.

Hear Hear: Mayer Hawthorne

Designer Drug by Mayer Hawthorne

I mean, I never say no to funky beats. If I had a million dollars I would reopen Studio 54. (If you have a million dollars and want a designer to help you reopen Studio 54, holla atcha girl!)

Get Lucky [Updated]

Oh Happy Day!!!!!!!
(After SO MANY fake leaks, we have an official release. DP shutting it down like always.)

Game of Cocktails

Whenever I watch Game of Thrones I like to get my drank on. I always pour myself a glass of red wine to get in the mood. I mean, they're constantly drinking wine, so why shouldn't I?

Well, Double Neat is going to take my drinking to another level. They've come out with a series of GoT cocktails, each formulated to match the personalities of each character from the series. This one has got to be my favorite drink. She also happens to be one of my favorite characters, too.

The Lady Arya
1 ½ ounces bourbon
1 ounce grenadine
1 ½ ounces lemon juice
lemon peel for garnish
Splash of San Pellegrino Limonata
Place the bourbon, grenadine and lemon juice in a cocktail shaker. Add ice and shake well. Strain into a chilled glass, add a splash of Limonata, garnish with a lemon peel and enjoy.

I'm feeling nostalgic

This song is from a Dragon Warrior Monsters, a game boy game I used to play when I was younger. It's one my most favorite songs from a game ever. So good.

Catching Fire Teaser Trailer

So dark, so gritty, so perfect.
Now we just need to see some footage from the other half of the movie...

Yearbook Party

Nope, these aren't photos from an actual yearbook. This was the amazing work of Shark Pig. They threw a Yearbook Party for all of their friends and dressed up in 50's garb to produce this beauty. Um. BRILLIANT idea! After I saw this, I immediately messaged my friend about it. She responded:

"I absolutely love this idea...I never knew how much I needed a mock yearbook spread of all our friends until now."

She's planning on buying a house and she said that this would be the perfect theme for a housewarming party. YES. I cannot wait. I'm making sure that we will follow through with this plan. THIS WILL HAPPEN.

MOM! I'm scared!!!!!!

Remember that I am your grandma video? Also, remember that terrifyingly realistic baby mask from it? How could you forget?! Well, now you can buy them. But please don't. We don't need anyone running around with these. If this becomes the new horse mask, I think I'm going to shit my pants. Thank god it's $350. That should deter a lot of potential purchasers, right? God I hope so.

I like eating raw ramen but this is a bit much...

GHP posts about delicious gourmet sandwiches and I post this. I think this is about as far as you can get from gourmet. They could have at least melted the cheese.

5 Music Streaming Sites For When You're Bored of Pandora

Pandora has cemented itself as a music streaming powerhouse in the world. It's convenient, it's got a huge selection, it's easy to use and most importantly it's free99. But we've all experienced that point when your favorite Pandora station stops being innovative and starts repeating the same songs over and over. and over. and over.
AND OVER.

Some people thrive on repetition and I am NOT one of them. Which is why I had to add some variety to my music streaming services:

5

You may recognize the name Grooveshark because it's what we use to share songs and playlists on this blog. (One of the reasons it's awesome. You can make a playlist/"mixtape" and share it with all of your friends)

Grooveshark is like the lovechild of Pandora and Facebook; it combines music and social networking. I love it because it gives you control that Pandora doesn't. You can search their huge database for ANY song you want to hear and play it on demand. I think it's like Spotify in that sense, except better because it's free. It's perfect for those times when you just want to hear THAT ONE song without waiting for it to pop up on your station. Of course Grooveshark also has the nifty feature of creating a channel based on past songs you've listened to.

Pros:
- Free (with the option to pay for more features)
- Unlimited skipping songs you don't want to hear
- Able to listen to any song you want just by searching for it
- Huge selection of songs (seriously, they have everything)
- Ability to make and share playlists with anyone you want to
- You can navigate the site without stopping your playlist
- Excellent labeling of songs and ability to see everything you've listened to in a session (in case you want to find the name of a song you really liked)

Cons:
- Ads? But nowhere near as obnoxious as Pandora's
- Sometimes there are tons of versions of a song in their collection, including 30 second samples, so you have to make sure you pick the right one
- Takes more effort to set up a radio station than other streaming services

This Everything Salad is...Everything!

Summer time and the eatin's easy!
The perfect salad for that phase of your life when you fancy yourself eating healthy/on a diet/improving your life choices. In theory you don't even need a dressing because the fruit take its place, but I'd still probably douse it in an olive oil balsamic mixture.
