15 Amazing Video Game Pixel Art Backgrounds

With the advent of photo realistic rendering software, pixel art has kind of fell into the "outdated zone." Which is really a travesty because pixel art is some of the most amazing computer generated art I've ever seen!! Seriously, I don't think pixel artists get the respect they deserve for their creations.

Check out these AMAZING background scenes from millennium era video games. The DETAIL. God IS in the details. And I can't even lie, I never even paid attention to backgrounds when I played these games.

A moment of recognition for all the underrated pixel video game artists.

I'm feeling nostalgic

This song is from a Dragon Warrior Monsters, a game boy game I used to play when I was younger. It's one my most favorite songs from a game ever. So good.

Street Fighter in REAL LIFE VISION

If only this what the way all fights looked. I mean I love a good, old fashioned hair pulling, rolling around in the dirt brawl and much as the next person....but this is just so much more poetic.

Super Mario CROSSOVER

 PLAY PLAY PLAY

What happens when Super Mario is given a video gamer REBOOT? Super Mario CROSSOVER. Basically you get to play all the great Mario levels but you have a choice of which crossover video game character you use to get through these levels. And the best part? The extra characters bring their abilities to Mario with them. So...Megaman has a gun that you can attack with, Seamus lays bombs, etc etc etc. For dolts like me who absolutely SUCK at jumping on the stupid brown thing, these new characters are a GOD SEND.
