Because I need more polaroid-like gadgets in my life

I already own a Fujifilm instax camera AND a printer, but I really want this. Polaroid overkill? Nevah.

Oh Great, Amazing Universe

First I have to set a little mood music.

Now let's just take a moment to appreciate space. Because these Cassini photographs of Saturn are absolutely MIND BLOWING. I need these blown up to about 10 feet tall and covering every wall in my room like I need air to survive.

THE SHADOWS!!! Can you imagine what it look like from the "surface" of Saturn!?!!!??!

Some days I wake up and I can't even handle how amazing space is. This is one of those days. I'm so ready for my faster than light spaceship.

London Grammar's Pinhole Music Video

This music video is a photographic marvel! The scenes where people are frozen in time were shot with this really insane pinhole camera rig. Check out their Behind the Scenes (especially if you're a photographer/cinematographer).

I'm actually kind of feeling the song too.

Yearbook Party

Nope, these aren't photos from an actual yearbook. This was the amazing work of Shark Pig. They threw a Yearbook Party for all of their friends and dressed up in 50's garb to produce this beauty. Um. BRILLIANT idea! After I saw this, I immediately messaged my friend about it. She responded:

"I absolutely love this idea...I never knew how much I needed a mock yearbook spread of all our friends until now."

She's planning on buying a house and she said that this would be the perfect theme for a housewarming party. YES. I cannot wait. I'm making sure that we will follow through with this plan. THIS WILL HAPPEN.

Kamehameha is the New Planking

I can accept this fad because it actually requires athletics and skilled photography.

Things that make me happy: This photo by Max Wanger

Everyone could always use a pick me up on Wednesdays. It's such a BLAH day. Just stuck there in the middle of the work week. Not quite the beginning, and not that close to the weekend. Like the nursery rhyme goes, Wednesday's child is full of woe. Word. Up.

Last Wednesday I posted that amazing picture of Will Ferrell. This week I chose this photo by Max Wanger. I really admire his work and this particular piece makes me feel really :) inside.

Happy Wednesday everybody! You'll get through the week. I promise. YOU GOT THIS!

Hereros Fashion a la Deutschland

If there is one thing I love in the world, it is a great juxtaposition. Photographer Jim Naughten's Hereros series is a great juxtaposition. The series looks at the Hereros tribe of Namibia, a beautiful desert country, and their unique traditional fashions.

A mixture of 19th century traditional German clothing, German soldier uniforms, and traditions native to the area, the Hereros fashion definitely stands out. And there are some really great silhouettes.
Read more about the series (it's really interesting) and see the rest of the series

The photos are on exhibit at the Klompching Gallery in Brooklyn from March 14-May 4.

I'll be ordering one on my next surplus of money.

SRSLY. DRINKING YOUR COFFEE FROM A LENS?! Perfection.

STUNNING ALERT: SLOW MO

Stunning video is stunning. Everything is perfect about it: The cast, the acting, the story, the styling...

The pretentiousness that is The Matrix makes me want to loathe slow motion shots, but slow motion is just so fascinating! Share the love with me:

2.
This amazing and violent slow motion that actually inspired my photography project:

3. Where I shot "slow motion" to capture people's funny face reactions when I dumped water on them. Without them knowing....

Photobucket Photobucket
Because with slow motion still images you can capture those subtle moments not visible to the human eye.
5. As far as MOVIES are concerned, Accidents Happen had a more stunning scene than Neo dodging bullets. Just saying.
Blood by The Middle East if you were wondering.

Here's to loving the art without associating it with the blockbuster.

Lady Gaga + Polaroid = Polaroid COMEBACK!

Remember when Polaroid decided to discontinue their classic polaroid cameras? Aka back in 2008? Aka 2 years ago? Well, now they decided to reverse their foolish decision and bring back polaroids with the help of their new creative director: LADY GAGA! Good call Polaroid. Good call.

Shake it like a Diana Instant Back+ picture!

Move over Polaroid! You've had your chance all these years, and then you go and discontinue possibly the greatest invention that you've brought into our world! At least Lomography is willing to keep instant photography alive. I introduce to you the Diana Instant Back+, the newest member of the Diana+ family. This attachment easily clips onto the back of the camera and is compatible with all of the other Diana+ acessories. It uses Fuji Instax Mini film, which is still in constant production so you never have to worry about your instant photo-fun coming to an end. So hop back on the instant photo-fun train! All you need is $95 (and that's just for the attachment...) and then you'll be off to the start of your adventure in instant photo-fun land!!
