Beer + Planets = ❤

I love a good Instagram hashtag, as evidenced by our initiation of #snoballproject which was inspired by #popsicleproject. This new one that I found has got to be, by far, the best one I have ever seen.

Seriously, guys this is some good stuff. I've never realized how much the bird's eye view of a pint of beer really does look like an celestial body! Hat's off to the creator of this ingenious hashtag. I love beer and I love outer space. Together, it's justI justI can't evenI'm in love.

The last one is a juice planet, but it's still oh so beautiful. #beerplanets

I seriously am obsessed with her. I love all the little people and all of details that go into these illustrations.
So whimsical and absolutely wonderful. I really want a waffle now.

Hear Hear: Portugal. The Man

I'm having a hipster moment because I'm PISSED I'm just discovering this band now! Portugal. The Man is like a mixture of Foster the People and the Beatles (you just can't go wrong with that!) Everyone should love this band. Seriously Amazing.

And this VIDEO. MAGIC. It's a religious experience. This song is a religious experience.

Also check out Modern Jesus.

Brands to Watch: Bark Decor

There are some real hidden gems buried within Etsy, all you need is a little shove in the right direction. I'm really loving the designs over at Bark Decor.

Reasons To Love It:
1. Sophisticated color palette with neutral tones to match everything.

2. Each piece is hand printed and made-in-America.

3. The artwork is absolutely stunning.

4. Reasonably priced. You can get shittier, similar stuff from the  Anthropologie/Urban Outfitters menace for about $40 more.

5. Support small businesses and artists!

So head on over. You can get shirts, bottoms, pillows and even jewelery! I'll take one of everything.

ONE DAY I WILL GO TO BURNING MAN

Stunning, ephemeral, angelic. It's been on my bucket list for like 5 years. One day, I will be a part of it.

London Grammar's Pinhole Music Video

This music video is a photographic marvel! The scenes where people are frozen in time were shot with this really insane pinhole camera rig. Check out their Behind the Scenes (especially if you're a photographer/cinematographer).

I'm actually kind of feeling the song too.

15 Amazing Video Game Pixel Art Backgrounds

With the advent of photo realistic rendering software, pixel art has kind of fell into the "outdated zone." Which is really a travesty because pixel art is some of the most amazing computer generated art I've ever seen!! Seriously, I don't think pixel artists get the respect they deserve for their creations.

Check out these AMAZING background scenes from millennium era video games. The DETAIL. God IS in the details. And I can't even lie, I never even paid attention to backgrounds when I played these games.

A moment of recognition for all the underrated pixel video game artists.

Now This is Some Pop Art I Can Get Behind

Love movies and art? Check these fantastic portraits by artist Mike Mitchell! They'll be on exhibit at the Mondo Gallery in Austin, TX starting April 26, for anyone in the Austin area.

I love that juxtaposition of cartoony line work with realistic painting. They'd look fabulous lined up in my hallway.

Furby Gets a Record Deal

I just discovered this amazing series that puts Furby into popular album covers. Here are some of my faves, and I can't wait to see what else they come out with.
Note: I added the original album for comparison.

Now if only I could find someone to parody this video with a furby. Perhaps I'll start a Kickstarter to fund it...

Just picture it! This song in a Furby voice!!! #CantHandleIt

17th Century Celestrial Art

So a few months back I fancied myself doing some DIY wall art projects for my room with vintage maps. Unfortunately I still haven't gotten around to any decorating, BUT I did find these AMAZING drawings of the constellations from the 17th century that I want to share with everyone. Because they are really cool.

Celestial Atlas by Ignace Gaston Pardies

I wanted to print them out really big and hang them on my wall, but they're also great as:
  • Wallpapers on your electronics
  • DIY postcards
  • Wrapping paper for small gifts
Anything with paper really. Just wanted to share because they're really cool.

Things that make me happy: This photo by Max Wanger

Everyone could always use a pick me up on Wednesdays. It's such a BLAH day. Just stuck there in the middle of the work week. Not quite the beginning, and not that close to the weekend. Like the nursery rhyme goes, Wednesday's child is full of woe. Word. Up.

Last Wednesday I posted that amazing picture of Will Ferrell. This week I chose this photo by Max Wanger. I really admire his work and this particular piece makes me feel really :) inside.

Happy Wednesday everybody! You'll get through the week. I promise. YOU GOT THIS!

Pantone + Food = Yumtastic Deliciously Awesome Art

These two amazing artists paired Pantone colors and food in such different, yet beautiful ways.  I especially love the bacon and egg combo because, uhhh who doesn't love bacon?!! and eggs, but more importantly BACON!

Love to Color

Happened upon this little internet gem that is a library of blank patterns for you to print and color in (or color in on Photoshop if you are the digital artist type). As a lover of coloring, coloring books, and patterns I love it.

Photobucket
Go go go! Download patterns! Here!

Art Tip: Print a bunch of different patterns...color them with different mediums (crayon, marker, pen, sand, watercolor, paint, etc.)...Frame them with vintage frames you find at Goodwill (or Urban Outfitters if you're the bourgeoisie type)...Fill an entire wall with custom colored patterns!

Hear HEAR: Cinnamon Chasers DELUXE

While I'm on this great music video spree, check out the video for Luv Deluxe by the Cinnamon Chasers. A great, chill out song, a story, unique, gritty cinematography. Perfect, perfect and perfect. Loves it.

Cinnamon Chasers - Luv Deluxe (Music Video) from Saman Keshavarz on Vimeo.

It's a great song to play in the background while you're studying.

Killjoys Make Some Noise

Power Ranger props, leather jackets, masks and helmets, deserts, flares.....This is my kind of dystopia.

God I hope this a motif for the rest of their stuff.
