Hear Hear: NRG

This Duck Sauce video/song is hitting ALL the right notes! I love the campiness! I love the 80-ness! These guys are ridiculous and I can't get enough! Like can there be more 80s style EDM (so I can show off my sick workout video dance moves?!)

Hear Hear (Throwback Thursday Edition): ORBITAL BE-BOP

This magical one hit wonder of the 80s is giving me all the life. (You may recognize it from the Oscar worthy film, Girls Just Want to Have Fun) Seriously, just put me in an empty room with this song playing and I would burn so many calories. Such a great era.

Here are some other Synth themed songs to amp you up for the weekend:

Hear Hear: Boney M

Seriously, I want to bring Disco back. Minus the awful bell bottoms. If I ever came into money I'm opening up a Studio 8 Rollerdisco night club. Kthx.

"23 HOURS 46 MINUTES UNTIL YOUDIEEEEEE"

We're taking it back, way back to 1995.

This is like my favorite episode of this TV show. Such a classic!!

Speaking of the Power Rangers

Why don't things like this happen on the streets of America? Honestly, the best advertising Nike could wish for. Children would throw themselves at the door of every Footlocker/Nike Store trying to get the Power Ranger shoes! Genius advertising is genius advertising.

Vintage Daft

I'm super excited about this facebook effort to get Daft Punk to play at Voodoo Fest 2010, since this is the greatest year ever and Daft Punk will be going on world tour hopefully and they definitely have new music coming out soon because they did the score for Tron Legacy that is coming out in DECEMBER. Oh God this year will be great.

Note: Shameless plug for anyone on facebook who cares about seeing Daft Punk at Voodoo to join the group, yah?

At any rate, here is some vintage Daft Punk from a time when advertisements were apparently amazing even though the product was GOD-AWFUL.

Can Gap.....or anyone for that matter....please do more ads with Daft Punk? I mean....that denim is AWFUL but paired with Daft Punk I kind of feel like shopping at the Gap right now.

The Salmon Dance

"Let me introduce to you a brand new dance."
Well not really brand new, it's from 2007. But dope nonetheless. I'm upset I just found out about this.

Throwback: The 5th Element and Gaultier

Bruce Willis is on my TV right now. And whenever I see him I can only think of him in The Fifth Element (which is a TOTALLY BAMF movie I might add). And the greatest thing about the Fifth Element, besides Chris Tuckers performance as a flamboyant radio host, is the costumes.....DESIGNED BY JEAN-PAUL GAULTIER.

Wtf? I didn't even know designer designers even did costumes for movies.

At any rate, high point of 90s fashion, HERE is my Fifth Element Look Board:

Photobucket
Flight Attendants that don't look like Picadilly workers, Cigarettes with more filter than Tobacco (not actually Gaultier, BUT still intriguing design, Blue rubber dress thing, YAMULKE, The signature strappy band aid outfit, and the signature orange rubber suspenders, BAMF. Gaultier, BA-STUNNING-MF.)

The strappy piece looks familiar, yes?

2......Um......... Days

Okay 2 Costumes ideas for Today and Yesterday!

1. American Beauty

Materials Needed:
1. Tank top and leggings, or a body suit, or a one piece with tights that match your skin color.
2. Fake rose petals from Michael's. (Or maybe if you want to ZAZZ it up and it a little of your own flavor you can try other flower petals.....DIAMONDS if you're me because Diamonds Are Forever and I love BLING.)
3. Hot glue gun or stapler or needle and thread to sew petals to the clothes.

Cheap, easy, iconic and awesome.

And boys CAN do it too.

I've started watching Daria again recently and fell in love with the ending credits all over again.

Speaking of DARIA...
BONUS COSTUME IDEA:

The characters of Daria would also make fun costumes. If not for Halloween then DEFINITELY for that fun Cartoon Theme Party someone will be throwing soon......HINTTTTTT....CARTOON PARTIES ARE AWESOME....HINTTTTTT.

And <3 ~*~*~*~Lovey Dovey~*~*~*~ <3 couples can dress up as Daria and Trent or something. I love Trent. Idea 2: Hipster, Indie, Aborigines that are found deep in the American Apparel Forests of Los Angeles.

I love their stylist for this album cover. If I was going to be any kind of "wild man" I'd definitely get inspiration from this album cover. And I'll play Electric Feel from my pocket all night.

Throwback Tuesday

10 years later and I still worship this video.
Not gonna lie, I want those reflector/light up things on my clothes.
And that rap is STILL a BAMF.

The Chemicals Between Them?

How are:

Amanda Lepore (Best DSLs I've ever seen), Dr. Cuddy from House MD (aka Lisa Edelstein), Voldermort James St. James, Richie Rich (one of the founders of the Heatherette clothing line), Ru Paul, and Larry Tee (DJ extraordinaire) connected?

They all were members of the Club Kids in the New York underground scene during the 80s. What does this entail? Some excerpts from Wiki Lala Land:

The Club Kids were a group of young clubheads led by Michael Alig and James St. James in the late 1980s and early 1990s. This group was famous for their outrageous costumes and extensive drug use -- in particular, ecstasy, ketamine, and heroin, although preferences ranged.

Michael Alig's fame and influence quickly grew. At one point, he was on the payroll of several clubs owned by Peter Gatien for doing nothing but showing up with his entourage of Club Kids in order to draw more customers to the clubs. When they wanted to add a little variety to their night-life, Michael and the club kids began holding illegal parties in various public places including a donut shop and the New York subway.

Party at a NYC subway donut shop? DONE AND DONE. Just so you know Michael Alig (the founder of the original Club Kids) was later convicted of murder over drugs. These kids went HARD. And it just blows my mind to think Lisa Edelstein was a part of this.

DR. CUDDY, Y SO PARTY ANIMAL?
